Rehearsals are under way for our upcoming comedy, Lettice and Lovage. This is the funny and moving story of two totally disparate women, who unite over their loathing of the mediocre and modern architecture... Watch Selina Cadell (Lettice) and Jessica Turner (Lotte) discussing their roles here. http://www.watermill.org.uk/lettice_and_lovage.html
Lettice and Lovage is written by one of our foremost dramatists, Peter Shaffer, who also wrote Black Comedy which was greatly enjoyed by audiences at The Watermill...

The roar of the water passing through the mill wheel filled the theatre today. As you pass from the theatre foyer into the auditorium you can see the wheel through the glass viewing window. But the frame holding the glass in place had begun to rot so the time had come to replace it. For a few hours the wheel was exposed and, as you can see, made an ideal photo opportunity for the carpenter, Matt, and members of the production team! Now, with the latest safety glass installed, we can see the beauty of the old, calcified wheel without having to peer through the cobwebs that had built up between the old panes of glass. Following the sad removal of our impressive Walnut tree in the back garden last August, due to an incurable fungal infection in the tree’s roots, we donated some of the wood to carvers and turners. We are delighted that some of this wood has been used for a charitable purpose. Thank you to John Ives, who has created a beautiful bowl for us, as well as one for an auction at the Dorset Blind Association, raising an impressive £300 for the charity. MORE INFORMATION |
