We are delighted to announce the first half of
our 50th Anniversary Season.
Booking opens on 14 November.
Friends of The Watermill priority booking is open now.
A hilarious, high-energy musical whodunit, recent off-Broadway hit Murder For Two will kick off the season before a transfer to St James Theatre, London.
The British premiere of Faust x 2 will see Olivier and Tony award-winning actor Ian McDiarmid, well known for his
role in the Star Wars film series, play the titular role in his adaptation of
Goethe’s dramatic poem.
The Watermill’s bold,
ensemble driven approach to Shakespeare is celebrated with a new production of Twelfth Night reimagined in
the 1920s jazz era. Directed by The Watermill’s Artistic Director, Paul Hart, the ensemble
of actors who created Romeo + Juliet earlier this year at The Watermill
will reunite to tell Shakespeare’s timeless story. Later in the year, Twelfth Night and Romeo + Juliet will play in repertoire at the theatre, following a national and international tour.
Alan
Ayckbourn’s linked comedies House and Garden will be performed
simultaneously in the theatre and a marquee in The Watermill’s
beautiful gardens. One character's entrance to House is another's exit from Garden in this fast-paced duo of plays.
The Watermill Senior Youth Theatre will present Danielle Pearson’s adaptation of Ann Veronica by H. G. Wells. Newbury Dramatic Society will return with an adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Maskerade. The season concludes with a poignant new play, Nesting by Ellen Robertson. The story of a self-confessed 'collector', this funny and moving production will premiere at The Watermill and will also tour to small arts centres and village halls.
