Week 2 – Big Bagnor Household
13 January 2015
O.M.G. We are now a quarter of the way through the geo-thermal project. We seem to have finished removing things from the theatre with the exception of the floor over the river by the water wheel which connects the foyer to the theatre. The temporary lack of a floor will certainly give locking up the theatre at night a bit of spice.
The Air Con guys have been working over the weekend so now all the units in the restaurant and Lily Pond have been pressure tested for any leaks. They have also managed to get all the air-handling units in place in the theatre which are all looking very shiny and new. In an old, converted Watermill, however, they could look horribly out of place. What we need is a team of people that are used to creating the illusion of fake walls and wood to make something to disguise the units and make them look as if they have always been part of the building.
Meanwhile back in the world of illusion we have now started rehearsals for The Secret Adversary. Our Assistant Production Manager, Nelly, who will tour the show, and I, spent a few hours with the set builders at the workshop where our sets are constructed. We were checking details for the touring set and overseeing construction of all the fake walls and floors prior to the set going into the paint shop to be aged. Hang on – I’ve just had a thought…
