Workshops and Backstage Tours

We regularly visit local schools and welcome students to the theatre to participate in a host of projects, workshops and one-off sessions.

As well as supporting the delivery of the curriculum, these opportunities support young people in the development of essential life skills including teamwork, confidence and communication skills.

We work with a range of professional actors, directors, writers and artists to deliver these opportunities.

Opportunities we can offer for students aged 5 – 19 years include:

  • Workshops to support your visit to the theatre
  • Communication and life skills sessions
  • Backstage tours of The Watermill
  • Create a Play in a Day
  • Specialist educational session to support the delivery of the curriculum
  • Theatre skills sessions such as stage combat, improvisation or devising theatre

Get in touch to discuss how we can work together. We have limited funding to deliver one-off taster workshops for schools.

Teacher Training and CPD

Our CPD training is tailor made to meet the needs of teachers and students.

We can facilitate the training at your school or venue. If we host you at the Watermill, there is the opportunity to combine your visit with lunch in our restaurant and tickets for a performance.

Our training and professional development sessions are crafted to meet your objectives and are adapted for teachers at all stages of education from early years through to higher education.

Examples of previous training we have provided:

  • Voicework training for teachers
  • Teaching Shakespeare through performance
  • Using Drama to create classrooms that are bursting with imagination
