Our Fundraising Promise To You
Our Promise to You
The Watermill Theatre is a registered charity and each year we work hard to raise the necessary funds to help produce all the work we do, both on and off stage. It costs in the region of £3million each year to produce our plays, run the theatre and our education programme. We are able to generate around 84% of our own income ourselves, through direct theatre activities including ticket sales and restaurant bookings and of course fundraising, which remains a priority.
Donations from our audience, our local business community, trusts, foundations and individuals are becoming increasingly important to us, without which we wouldn’t be able to produce our shows or create opportunities for our young people. A donation supports everything we do now and everything we want to do in the future. If you have made a donation or are considering making a donation, thank you. We are hugely grateful to you and fully appreciate that there are many other charities that are equally deserving of your support. Whether you are donating a few pennies or bundles of pounds, we feel privileged that you have chosen The Watermill.
Our promise to you is simple. We promise to use your donation with respect. We promise to spend your gift wisely. We promise that every penny from you will go towards our artistic programme and our outreach work (unless you tell us otherwise). We promise not to bombard you with constant requests for donations (but hope you will want to know about relevant appeals we will launch from time to time). We promise to be clear in our fundraising message. We promise not to pass on your details to a third party. We promise to keep our fundraising costs to a bare minimum. We promise to make your money work hard, by encouraging tax payers to gift aid donations (making it possible for us to claim 25p from HMRC for every £1 given to us). We promise not to waste money and finally WE PROMISE TO PRODUCE GREAT THEATRE FOR ALL TO ENJOY.
Thank you for investing in us.
