The Watermill is located in the rural village of Bagnor, two miles from Newbury town centre. Bagnor itself has no public transport facilities, so most of our audience members choose to drive – we encourage car sharing wherever possible to reduce our impact on the environment.

Getting here

By car

We are situated a short distance from the M4 from Junction 13 or 14, or you can reach us by car via the A34 from Oxford – turn off at the junction signposted Newbury, Hungerford (Donnington, Speen), then take the first exit at the roundabout and go straight over the second roundabout. Turn left at the Hare and Hounds (following the brown sign for the Watermill), turn left at the end of the road and take the second right into the village of Bagnor. In Bagnor, take a left at the sign to the Watermill.

By train

Newbury train station is around an hour’s train journey from London Paddington and is about three miles from the theatre. There is a taxi rank at the station, or taxis (including accessible taxis) can booked via Go Green Taxis (01635 800990) or Cabco Newbury (01635 33333). 

By bus

The nearest bus stop is a 30-minute walk from the Watermill at Station Road, Speen. Newbury Buses service 4 runs every 2 hours and the last bus leaves for central Newbury at 7:30pm. Please note half the route has no pavements or street lighting. 

Parking

Car park and accessible parking

There is free on-site parking at theatre including an overflow car park for busy periods. It is also possible to drop passengers outside the theatre, approximately 5 metres from the building’s entrance. 

There are six accessible parking bays located next to the building – we kindly ask that you display your Blue Badge when using these spaces. Three of these spaces are available on a first come basis, and these spaces are available to book in advance via Box Office.  

Bicycles

We have a bicycle rack in the main car park that can accommodate six bicycles. 

Coaches

Coach spaces are pre-booked via the Box Office. 

EV Charging

There are EV six charging bays (Voltshare) in the main car park, compatible with all electric vehicles. Please note that these are untethered charging points and the cost of charging is 60p per kWh. If you would like to use one of the charging points during your visit, please let a parking attendant know when you arrive.
