BUBBLES

Ade Morris
Music by Carl Calow

Tue 22 Sep 2009 - Sat 26 Sep 2009

Bubbles is a brand new, full-on musical combining the talents of writer, Ade Morris, young composer, Carl Calow and Tony award-winning musical director, Sarah Travis. Set in a moment of great change and turmoil – right now – and a chaotic scrap yard on the edge of town – a single ‘Crazy Tree’ grows from the ashtray of a rusting Jaguar – registration BU88 LE5.

The noughties have left Barbara 'Bubbles' Brough behind, banjaxed and bewildered. Her sons Charley and Dirk are chips off the old cylinder block of her husband Reg Brough, an amiable rogue recently deceased, but they have different ideas about the future of Bubbles Scrap. Should they sell the yard for housing? Or should they listen to their Mum and Reg and learn something from the past? Dirk is tempted by the money, Charley loves his Mum and doesn’t know what to do, departed Reg watches it all and tries to help them all do the right thing - but as the bin liners pile up in their little kitchen and the past crowds around, time is running out for Bubbles Brough...

Bubbles is a funny, inspiring, life affirming and unique experience on the small scale touring circuit – speaking directly to the experiences of all who have lived and worked in Britain over the last thirty dizzily changing years.

Please note that this production contains strong language.
