Join best-selling author and historian Lady Carnarvon for a
discussion of her fascinating new book, ‘The Earl and the Pharaoh’.
This biography of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, previous resident of local landmark Highclere Castle (better known to audiences as Downton Abbey), focuses on the ground-breaking discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun. Working from archives, letters and diaries, the book brings to life the story of this remarkable man and his friendship and collaboration with Howard Carter, which culminated in the discovery of perhaps the most famous ancient Egyptian burial after 16 years of searching.
The talk will be followed by a short Q&A and the opportunity to get your copy of the book signed. New copies of ‘The Earl and the Pharaoh’, as well as a wide range of refreshments, will be available to purchase on the night.
