Ronnie Biggs - Odd Man Out: The Last Straw
The Autobiography of Ronnie Biggs
Ronnie Biggs is still a household name fifty years on from the crime that made him notorious. But is it the man or the myth that has fascinated the British public for so long?
Chris Pickard joins us to talk about Odd Man Out: The Last Straw, the autobiography he has written with Biggs. It shows Biggs in his true colours, setting the scene from his early prison life, through the Great Train Robbery, his conviction, escape from the high security wing at HMP Wandsworth, being on the run and becoming one of the most wanted men. It covers his arrest in 1974 and brings the story bang up to date including his strokes, illness, his attempted suicide, the extradition attempts, and his much publicised return in 2001 after 13,068 days on the run. Love him or loathe him, it is one compelling story.
