Felix Francis, the younger son of the legendary jockey and bestselling writer Dick Francis, was involved in the research and writing of his father’s novels for almost 40 years. He has now taken over the authorship of the Dick Francis novels, following the death of his father in 2010.
As a child, Felix remembers discussions around the breakfast table being somewhat unconventional. Typical conversations would be about the damage a bullet might do to a man’s guts rather than the more mundane topics of everyday life. In 2007 Dick and Felix released Dead Heat, their first jointly authored novel, followed by the London and New York Times bestsellers Silks in 2008, Even Money in 2009 and Crossfire in 2010. The latter was published by Penguin in paperback in July and this was the book that they were both working on when Dick died in February 2010.
The thriller writer will live on through Felix - something that Dick both wanted and encouraged. Gamble is the eagerly-awaited first novel by Felix as the sole author of Dick Francis novels.
